So sorry to be MIA lately. Real life has a way of taking over sometimes. I have been going through a lot of pain as my nerves regenerate. My father had a heart-attack and needed to under go surgery for a pace maker. He is home now but oh so tired. My poor mom is out of her head sometimes. I hate that my parents are getting older. But that is real life everyone.

Everyone Survived the 4th!

I sure hope you all had a great 4th of July, I know WE did! Hubby and I traveled out west to see the kids and grandkids. We spent all day on the boat, both Friday and Saturday, tubing and sunning. What a blast! I took LOTS of pictures with my NEW Cannon Powershot. Hubby bought me a 4Gig memory card for the camera! That will hold like 1000 photos, isn't that a hoot?? The camera will also take videos and I got some great ones of the kids crashing off the tube!

Friday evening, we all met at my middle son's home for a cookout, then we did the fireworks. Here is a scrapbook page I did while trying out my camera's night shot capabilities.

We got home Sunday night and our house was still standing, so that is a good thing! lol~

Hi Everyone. Hope you had a great weekend. Today I go see my back surgeon for a check-up. Some nerves are waking up and HOLY MOLY does it burn!! But at least my left butt check doesn't feel 'dead as a door nail', as my Granddad used to say.

I did all 5 layouts for the color challenge at DECO-PAGES this month!! There is still time to do a few layouts AND you get such a beautiful kit from Rose Made Designs called Paisley Rose. You can pick-up the STARTER KIT for $1.99 and it is worth every penny!!

It's my cute Maltese dogs! Baby Girl is in the foreground and her 1 year old son, Ewok, is in the background. Aren't they just the cutest??

Well, it is Friday, a full moon AND the Summer Solstice, all at the same time!

No wonder I am so fidgety!!

Even as a child, the full moon effected me. I can't sleep yet have no energy. UGH!

When bad health rears it's ugly head, life can become consumed with it! My fibromyalgia has flared up and let me tell you, it stinks!

Fibromyalgia (pronounced fie-bro-my-AL-juh) is one of the most common chronic widespread pain conditions. The condition affects millions of people in the U.S.
The causes of fibromyalgia are still not fully known, but recent data suggest that changes in the central nervous system may contribute to the chronic pain of this condition.

Well, I suppose operating on my spinal cord can certainly effect my central nervous system.

I will keep this short, hurts too much to sit at the computer.

Excited Kegan!

It has been great to see my son and his family. I have to keep pinching myself to make sure I am not dreaming! I have had the digital camera straped around my neck and snapping away. Kegan sees the camera come out and he becomes a HAM! :)

Tomorrow, Friday, I am traveling by Amtrak train to St. Louis to watch my youngest son graduate from Police Academy!! I am so very proud of him. He put himself through college AND Police Academy WHILE working and taking care of an ill wife and handicapped son. HE IS MY HERO!!! (WTG SON!) Here is a layout I did of him when he graduated college. He is wearing his DEAN'S LIST cords!!

He is a very special person and has wanted to be a police officer since he was about 3 years old.

He is special because he set a goal at a very young age and accomplished it.

I love you Erik!

In the Photography Challenge, we are scrapping a photo a day, all month!

Many of us were appalled and saddened by the despicable activites that were revealed this past weekend in digiworld. For some, it sapped their creative juice, for others it became a heavy weight, one they almost shrugged off by leaving digiscrapping & designing altogether. To bring the focus back on the fun and enjoyable aspects of this hobby, a large group of designers and stores, 46 to be exact, got together to create a 4-day mega-fun, freebieful time for you. We've worked our tushies off setting this up so you will know there are still hardworking, honest, nice, fun-to-hang with ladies in this industry who wish to share their joy of this hobby, which we all love so much and to which many of us are addicted!

So, if I am a Life Blogger, I guess I better blog about my BORING life! Why is my life boring? Because I am STILL recuperating from my major back surgery in August, 2007. I guess I did NOT really believe the surgeon when he told me the recovery time will be between 12 to 18 MONTHS! ARGH!

I am starting to design, VERY little, maybe I can get into full swing in a few months. I do miss it!

Well, better go for now, hubby just got home and the Maltese dogs are barking to high heaven!!

I get bored with the same thing, even in my house! I want to move furniture, paint walls, rearrange the mirrors and art! That might be why my back is broke! hahaha! When I am physically able, I will resume my crazy, artistic life. Maybe I will pick up that bass quitar again.

Poor Ewok! He got 'fixed', or as my Hubby likes to say, "broken", and he is NOT a happy puppy! The journalling says; :

Just look at my poor baby! He had to wear that crazy coller so he wouldn't chew on his stitches. I took it off him after one day. I just watch him closely. He never leaves my side as it is! What do you think of the layout? I just LOVE it! I used Teriann Hanks template, 'Just A Few' and her kit, 'Moonlight Garden'. You can find the kit at the Potato Bar. Oh and if you want to know what that Charming font is, it is, A Charming Font! hehe.. I think it is a pretty cool font yet kind of creepy at the same time. It is the October Font Challenge of the month at DSO! Go check it out! You still have time to participate.

Here is Ewok snuggling with his Mama, BabyGirl. They are such sweet companions to me! Again I used Teriann's template, 'Give Me A Ring' and her 'Summer Farewell' kit.

I know, I have not blogged for a month! But for the last month, I have been hard at work, doing physical therapy! I can now stand at the sink and do a light load of dishes. I know, most of you are saying, WOOHOO~ LOL. But it is a BIG DEAL to me!

WOOHOO! I am HOME!

Home and wore out, using a wheelchair, but I AM HOME! I can sit at the computer, for short periods of time, so I will be sporatic ;)~
The recovery is SURE not what I thought it was going to be. I have therapy, 3 times a week, through Home Health. It is so crazy adjusting, to this way of life (for now), after taking so MANY things for granted. (Like just getting myself a darn cup of coffee!!)
I tried to get my husband to take a picture of the doctor removing my 25 staples, using my cell phone camera, (so I could scrap it!) but he said I was nuts! Now THAT is a TRUE scrapper! LOL~

I am still in the hospital~

Hi Everyone. Just a quick note to let you all know how i am. Surgery went as scheduled but there was a large rip in the durua that had to be stitched closed and caused me to lose quite a bit of spinal fluid. I have developed several complications. Numb from my hips down, cant feel a thing. I will have to go to a skilled nursing care facility as soon as released from the hospital. Am cathorized and TRY to walk with a walker. have to wear a back brace while up and have staples from the middle of my shoulder blades all the way down to my tail bone. WooHoo!

Update on my health (you all must be getting sick of hearing about it)!

The mass in my thyroid MIGHT be papillary cancer, but it is non-life threatening, so we will put off taking care of it until 6 months after my back surgery.

Back surgery; I have to be at the hospital by 5:30 a.m. on Aug. 21st and my surgery is scheduled first thing at 7:30 a.m. I found a really good link that explains the procedure and recovery time in plain English!

I have 2 of my grandsons today and tomorrow while their parents drive to the middle of Kansas for a job interview (my DIL). The college, Ft. Hays, is hiring campus police and my son is ready to go back out to his old stomping grounds. He wants to raise his children where he grew up and I totally understand why. The city sucks! Crime, drugs, killings. I mean, I know these things happen almost everywhere now a days, but out there it isn't too bad.

Major surgery on Aug. 21st

Yep, I fought it as long as I could. My neurosurgeon said my spine is a degenerating MESS! SOOO, on Aug 21st, he will cut me open (like a fish!) and try to fix me up with titanium rods and screws AFTER he removes some bone to relieve the pressure from the stenosis, removes the discs that are bulging, inserts spacers and do some bone grafts. WHEEEEE! Then I get to wear a body brace and walk with a walker for several months and have about 1 year of physical therapy. I have a long road ahead of me BUT, the prognosis of getting lots of relief and some of my LIFE BACK, is very good!
Keep me in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you all so very much for your support and friendship!

Well People, It is a rainy day here in KC, MO! There goes mine and Hubby's Royals baseball game, we were going to attend tonight, with fireworks and all! At least the garden will not watering! LOL~~Rain hurts my body and my soul isn't feeling very good at the moment either. I was thinking people didn't like my share yesterday because I have ONLY 1 comment on the blog and only 16 on 4shared. But then I saw how many actually downloaded it, 86!!! Now come on, if this comes across cranky, well, I guess I AM cranky! 17 comments for 86 downloads?? It is disheartening to say the least. To those of you who DO leave comments, THANK YOU! YOU MAKE MY DAY! MY WEEK!

Sleeping In

Sometimes, I let myself enjoy the indulgence, of sleeping in. Now that I am 50 and no children at home, no job to get ready for, I can do this! Since I was a young girl, my feet hit the floor running, every morning. Now I can just stretch, roll over and let my mind drift....I get lots of wonderful designing ideas like this. Images and colors that weave around, so much so, that I must keep a writing tablet and pen beside my bed!
But today, I slept in TOO long! It must have been because I was so restless last night. Now I feel as if half my day is gone before it began! LOL!~

So sorry I missed THURS-T Thursday's freebie, for you, so am posting it today! I have had a lot going on this week, WHEW! On Tuesday, I learned the results of my chest CT scan and it sent me into a whirlwind. It shows a growth and I now need a sonogram to take a closer look. Wednesday, I went with my son to see his lawyer about a HUGE settlement, he has for an on-the-job injury. This is something that has been going for over 5 years now and FINALLY they are asking about settling out of court. So we had to come up with a negotiation figure (which he's lawyer already has figured out). Yesterday became my 'decompress' day.

I made you a nice Quick Page using a great sketch by Becky Fleck of PageMaps. I just love her sketches, as a jumping off point for layouts, go check her out!

WOW! What a time I have been having lately! Since my lumbar area of my back, has decided to give me heck, I can't sit at the computer as long as I used to! I get to visit some neurosurgeons, but not until July 16th, UGH! Take my advice, DON'T turn 50, everything goes down hill and I mean LITERALLY!

What do YOU do for fun?

Fun for me, is spending time with my children and grandchildren! Actually, I love ANY family and friends gatherings, at MY house! I used to do dinners for over 25 people and loved every minute of it. I think I was Martha Stewart before there was a Martha!! LOL! Some of the fun things I do with my grandchildren include, board games, movies, roasting marshmellows over a fire in the backyard firepit, arts and crafts and of course, taking photos of them!! So what do you do for fun??

Ah Well...Ankylospondylitis

Hello Folks. I must tell you that I will not be posting a THURS-T Thursday freebie this week. We are going out of town to visit my son and daughter-in-law and BASIL OLIVIA!!! She turns 2 next month! Since it is a long weekend here in the States (Memorial Weekend), we will take advantage of the time off from work, and travel. It is only about a 5 hour drive west of us and I hope I have enough pain meds to see me through! UGH! We went to see the neurologist yesterday and he perscribed more meds for the pain, inflammation and muscle relaxers. I have to go have an MRI done and still see the rheumatologist June 5th. It sucks getting old! Well, all this is not really because I turn 50 on the 26th of May. It stems from a birth defect of my spine. It's called Ankylospondylitis. Happy THURS-T Thursday Everyone!

Yesterday I posted a nice Quick Page that could be used for Mother's Day. Today I am quinching your THURS-T with a mini freebie called

But first I have somthing to Blog about, not scrap related, but very close to my heart, my youngest son.

My 27 year old son, Erik, and his family (wife and 3 year old son) live about 4-5 hours west of me and he works in a telemarketing call center (which he really doesn't like). Yesterday, there was an incident at the callcenter that caused it to be evacuated. My son, and over 100 more, began to have allergic reactions to something in the air! They had to be rushed to 3 area hospitals with my son going into anaphylactic shock! It was a heart wrenching call yesterday,about 2:30 CST, that I learned of this, and the worry continued through the night. Here is the news report as of this morning:

Mystery ailment at Missouri call center sickens 130By Associated PressThursday, May 3, 2007 - Updated: 11:48 AM EST

FARMINGTON, Mo. - Investigators are trying to determine what sickened 130 employees at a call center who complained of breathing troubles and eye irritation. All 338 workers on duty at ACCENT Marketing Services were evacuated Wednesday afternoon, and 130 were taken to hospitals. Most were treated and released, though three were admitted. ACCENT spokeswoman Stacy Spradling said she didn’t know when employees would return to work. Police Chief Rick Baker said the air-conditioning system was serviced Wednesday morning. He said investigators would examine filters from the system.

Well, my son Erik was one of the three admitted. He is better today so they released him about 10 am CST. He says he feels like a giant hangover and that was why he quit drinking! So he still has his sense of humor! LOL! I am just so glad he did not die of anaphylactic shock !

So in honor of my son, and ALL sons, husbands, brothers, etc., I offer this freebie.

Life is; birth, joy, love, ambition, death and sadness. These past few weeks I have experienced them all, for myself, for my friends. In my family we spoke, openly, of life and such realities, dreams. So, it is my way also, to speak openly and lovingly. For us parents, we feel the bittersweet pangs of having children, of experiencing the joys and sorrows. It is with joy that I record these memories of life's happenings. I remember the little things, with great joy, such as the sweet little dirty hands of my 4 year old son, bringing me dandelions from the yard, given with a kiss. That same son, now 30 years of age, works with his hands to provide a living for HIS family. His hands are still as sweet and dirty, though not so little! He gives me flowers, only this time from a florist and instead of a kiss, a card in his own handwriting, thanking me for being the parent who was always there. My new kit, Dirt Plus Boys Equals Fun, is in honor of my son, in whom I delight. It is on sale this week, so grab it quick!

In celebration, I have a little something for you. But first, let me tell you about my Christmas cactus, blooming on the FIRST DAY OF SPRING!

My Granny taught me lots about gardening and houseplants. Out of most of that side of the family, I am one of the VERY few, who can grow and BLOOM African Violets and now it seems a Christmas Cactus as well. Only it didn't happen the way Granny told me. The first (of last) October, I put the cactus (that I have had for over 3 years with NO blooms) in a cool, dimmly lit area and did not water it for 2 months. I brought it out into the sunlit rooms and started watering it around Thanksgiving. Christmas came and went with NO BLOOMS! Then last wekk, I gave all my houseplants a drink of plant food and today, there is a gorgeous bloom and a few buds on the cactus! LOL! My Granny would just die! Here is a photo I took this morning.

Weekend News and a Freebie!

We had grandsons over for the weekend. They are 9 and 5 1/2 years old. They came over to help Papa clean the backyard and boy did they work hard! It was so cute to see them out there raking leaves and stacking sticks for the firepit, so Papa could mulch over them. My task was clipping years of milkweed accumulation off the fence. I found a spot where my neighbors had actually tied some of the vines up! They must have thought it was pretty, what they DON'T know is that the vine will kill off ANYTHING you try to grow around it! HA!

We had a marshmallow roast at the end of the day and we started to watch the DVD, Star Wars, but the little guys conked out after about 30 minutes!

NOW, On to the FREEBIE!

Sgt Paeper was the opening act at the summer parcfestival 2006. It is a group of known artists who came together to do avenloos translation of the beatles album sgt. pepper's lonely heartclub band. They performed all the songs live, something the beatlescouldn't do with the techniques back then. A friend of us Twan Mientjestranslated this album into Venloos (the language of our city in thenetherlands) but he died before the concert. So it was kind of atribute to him...

It's been a week since I last posted! But it has been a HECTIC week! My Baby Girl (Maltese) had her pups 1 week ago tonight, 3 boys and 2 girls! Needless to say, I am a nervous wreck! LOL! Here is a LO I did for our (Digital-Scrapbooking.org) Monday Nite Chat~n~Crop.

The Big Hoopla of Valentine's Day

Now before you get your knickers in a bunch, let me just say that this is ONLY my opinion! I don't like Valentine's Day, it hurts when you are alone, it disappoints if you have an insensitive mate and it costs too much money when you are still trying to recoup from Christmas! It is like Mother's Day, Father's Day, Grandparent's Day, THESE SHOULD BE EVERYDAY!!! OK, I feel better now, thanks for letting me get that out of my system. :)
I must say the upcoming DAY has got me thinking about my wedding day, er, night. We got married at midnight on Dec. 18th. The story behind THAT is; the couple who were going to perform the ceremony, could only come over on Dec 17th, but I wanted to get married on the 18th. It was 5 years, exactly, from our VERY FIRST DATE! I know, for someone who doesn't like Valentine's Day, I AM very sentimental! heehee! So our friends came over that evening on the 17th, we had dinner together, some KILLER margarita's and then began the ceremony. We had only 5 people in our livingroom; Our good friend and his wife, who performed the ceremony, our good friend Tom in a wheelchair (he manned the camera so we have LOTS of great photos of my middle OR my behind!)and my hubby to be and myself. We had a contemporary pagen, Celtic ceremony, as my husband is descended of Welsh ancestors and I am Scotch-Irish. He wore his blue plaid shirt, I wore a long, red velvet dress with a ring of mistletoe and poinsettas around my head. I stood barefoot in my own livingroom, at the stroke of midnight, as we were pronounced husband and wife. Ah, those were the days. Now I am married to a recliner that burps! LOL!
ANYWAY, I DID do some layouts of the awesome day and I will share them with you. Leave a comment if you like!

Quality Control for BETTER than avg. kits!

Digital-Scrapbooking.org has officially implemented a Quality Check System in our store. What this means is someone (other then the designer) is downloading and inspecting EVERY SINGLE PIECE of these kits, to make sure YOU get the best product our designers can provide. Two sets of eyes are better then one for catching errors!

Anytime you see THIS SYMBOL:

You will know that THAT item has been inspected by our Quality Assistant!

What does she look for?
Well, she makes sure there are no strays, and that the item is 300 ppi. She also notes whether the item unzips into organized folders and if there are any premade shadows. Errors are corrected, and the product is marked so that you (our customer) can rest assured that item is flaw free! No more having to email and complain to a designer to have an element replaced!!! You will know before hand if the item will unzip organized or if you will need to manage the file. You will also know if there are shadows or not so you can make informed purchases and not be disappointed with the product. We want to tell you as much as we can about the product so you know what you’re getting when you buy!!!

I'm a Mom and I think I am a great Mom! Even though mine are all grown and gone from home, they DID give me some grandbabies to smother, er, I mean MOTHER! My Mom was a SAHM to 6 of us! There were days, when I was wore out from my 3, that I would call my Mom and ask her how the HECK did she do it with SIX?! She'd just laugh at me, er , maybe WITH me, and say she missed those days. ACK! Did she say MISS those days? At the time I had NO understanding of what she said. But now, mine are grown and gone like I said, and I MISS those days! I DO!
So cherish each moment with your children, scrap those photos NOW before you loose them, and then look at them (with a smile on your face) in about 20 years.

Ok, I am tired of the Holiday kits, aren't you? I am ready for some different colors and themes. I am a heritage freak, (comes from my genealogy passion I think) and I came across some old photos of relatives back in the 1880's. I loved it! Horses, dirt road Main street, looked like Old Western Days to me! So I started playing around with a western theme kit and this is part of what I came up with. The completed kit will be pretty darn big because I just couldn't stop myself! LOL! The kit, Wild West Days, will be available in my store soon! But in the meantime, here is a sample for you!

The countdown is still counting and people are still behind on their holiday shopping! Mine was easy, SHOP ONLINE! Find the best deals, order and they are delivered right to my door! Gotta love it. What did I ever do before internet?? And to think it all started because some university professors wanted to watch the coffee pot in the next room, HA!
If you know digital scrappers, then shopping for them should be easy also. Just go to any digital scrap shop and get them a gift card! Now how easy is that?!?
